Calfee bicycles are ridden by professional riders worldwide in such world class competitions as the Ironman and the Tour de France. Calfee frames featuring a unique carbon fiber gusset construction and are built to endure the most rigorous riding conditions, whether road, cycleross or triathalon.

Craig Calfee has been building custom frames since 1988 and has refined and perfected his frame building techniques through constant feedback from riders, athletes and customers. Technical superiority is his specialty.

The Dragonfly, shown below, is the lightest and most technically advanced Calfee frame. Although it weighs only 2.1 pounds (54cm size), it is extremely stiff and carries a 25 year warranty.

The Dragonfly was designed to be light without sacrificing stiffness and ride quality. The use of high modulus carbon fiber in all the tubes as well as the lug areas ensures this. In the past, frames built with all high modulus fiber would be too brittle; Calfee overcomes this by by incorporating Boron fiber into the main tubes for strength and compressive stiffness. Combined with the super high tensile stiffness of the carbon, the result is a frame material with the highest stiffness to weight ratio available today.

Utilizing a form follows function aesthetic, the lugs are pressure molded from high modulus fabric and meticulously carved to the optimum shape, taking into consideration the weight and intended use by the rider.

The dropouts are also carved out to an optimal shape, with a 15 gram weight saving over standard dropouts. Like its natural counterpart, the Dragonfly is an optimized and evolved structure.
